1. Avocado

Avocado has undeniably ‘smashed’ itself into all Australians hearts. In fact, Aussies are among the highest consumers of avocado in the English-speaking world. Apart from being incredibly delicious, Avocados pack a nutrient-rich punch.

This wonderful superfood contains a variety of 20 different vitamins and minerals; including Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folate, Potassium and Vitamin B5 &B6. If you want to try something different with avo, why not make this zucchini & avocado soup or simply start adding into your salads.

2. Turmeric

The benefits of Turmeric and Curcumin have become a popular topic of conversation. That’s because turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant superhero!

Don’t be afraid to order a turmeric latte next time your out – you will find it creamy, comforting and super healthy (the perfect go-to winter warmer). Or you can try and make this “Golden Milk” recipe yourself at home!

3. Bone Broth

Bone broth is a mineral-rich infusion made by boiling combination of animal protein with vegetables, herbs and spices. Besides being super tasty and comforting, bone broths are a nutritious source of food to help boost the immune system, whilst also delivering a high collagen hit (great for joints, hair and skin).

Making bone broths from scratch might be a deterrent to some, because who has time for that! Your perfect solution is to buy ready-made bone broths, available at Health Food stores, or your local supermarket – making it super convenient to have at home or on-the-go!

4. Garlic

Garlic is one of nature’s immune-boosting superstar, used for centuries for its many health benefits including its antiviral and antibacterial properties. Bonus, it’s extremely delicious in almost any meal!

Tip: Trying to add more garlic into your meals during the cooler months/cold & flu season to help supercharge your immune system.

5. Fermented Foods

It’s estimated that over 70% of our immune system lies in the gut*, making a healthy gut flora is to a fully functioning system.

Gut flora can be easily thrown out of whack due to many factors such as bad lifestyle habits, diet and use (or misuse) of antibiotics.

To maintain good gut health try incorporating fermented foods into your diet – our favourites are miso soup, kefir and kimchi. These foods are rich in healthful probiotics and great for good digestion also.

Kimchi is incredibly easy to make, and goes with almost any savoury meals. Here’s our favourite recipe on how to make kimchi at home!
