6 top tips to support a strong immune system

There are lots of things that you can do to support a healthy immune system all year-round.

1. Avoid sharing personal items
Avoid sharing dishes, drinking glasses, cups, towels, pillows, jumpers or jerseys or other personal items with others. After using these items, wash them in a washing machine or dishwasher, using detergent to ensure they are cleaned thoroughly. This is important to implement in a home and workplace environment.

2. Wash your hands
Wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 30 seconds, making sure you dry them thoroughly. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

3. Keep some Hand sanitiser ‘handy’
When using hand sanitiser, cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Keep it on your desk, in meeting rooms, bathrooms etc…

4. Reduce your stress levels
Unhealthy stress can negatively impact your health and wellbeing, that is why reducing stress is very important. Try adding regular exercise, medication and other self-care activity to keep stress levels balances.

5. Get at least eight hours of sleep each night
Lack of sleep can affect your health your immune health negatively, therefore sleep is beneficial as a preventative measure, as well is when you are recovering, or your body needs extra support. ⁠

6. Top up your immune system
